I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Oregon with almost 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents and families struggling with mental health and behavioral issues.
Seeking help is not always easy, but it can create new opportunities for you or your family to experience greater happiness and success. Please contact me to schedule an initial 30 minute session to learn more about how we can work together towards your goals.
Individuals exist within social contexts: friends, family, school, workplace and communities. My treatment philosophy maintains that if there are significant issues within one area, such as stress within a family, it can negatively affect the individuals within that system as well as lead to problems with functioning in other areas. It is equally true that an individual's mental health may create issues within broader social systems.
Productive changes can only occur if the interconnected "knot" can be untangled. Treatment must address not only the struggling individual but examine the way social contexts contribute to or enable the struggling. I encourage the involvement of family members and can work collaboratively with schools or other relevant groups to promote more adaptive responses to current interactions.
